Embark on a culinary journey through Transylvania!

Join Chris for a hands-on cooking class where you’ll learn to prepare traditional Transylvanian dishes. Discover the secrets of hearty stuffed cabbage rolls, rich dips and spreads, and sweet pastries that have been passed down through generations. This class is a celebration of Transylvanian culture through food.

Among the dishes we will make in this class are ‘Sarmale’, the famous stuffed cabbage rolls that are traditional cooked by every family for significant celebrations.  These will be served with the famous ‘upside-down’ polenta that is traditionally cut without a knife.

You will also discover the artistry of crafting rich dips and spreads like charred eggplant caviar and Transylvanian white bean hummus with caramelised onion. During this class we will cook two of my favourite childhood dishes – zucchini fritters with garlic sauce and my mother’s famous pumpkin walnut pie.

We invite you to not only learn the techniques of Transylvanian cooking but also to savor the stories woven into the class through the universal language of food.

Cooking class details:

  • This cooking class comprises one part demonstration, one part hands on and one part dinner where you get to taste all the recipes
  • Coffee / tea are available throughout the class
  • Afternoon tea treats are provided as part of the class
  • The cooking class will last approximately 2.5 hours
